About the Park

An off-leash trail along City Creek is what draws dogs to Memory Grove, just north of downtown Salt Lake City at 300 North Canyon Road. This is not a fenced run; it's an unfenced creekside corridor with steady tree shade, best for dogs that stay close and come when called. The trail connects to City Creek Canyon for longer outings. The park also holds veterans memorials, and visitors are expected to keep dogs out of those formal spaces. Hours run 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and entry is free. On warm days, the creek itself is the main event.

infoWhat to Know Before You Go

Memory Grove Park is an off-leash area without full fencing. Make sure your dog has solid recall before letting them loose, and keep an eye on them near any roads or boundaries.

Walking trails are available, so you and your dog can enjoy a walk beyond just the off-leash area. Trails are a great option for dogs who enjoy sniffing and exploring at their own pace.

Best of all, Memory Grove Park is completely free to visit — no membership or daily fees required.

backpackWhat to Bring

check_circle

Fresh water and a bowl

Even parks with water fountains can have them out of service. Bring your own to be safe.

check_circle

Poop bags

Most parks provide them, but don't rely on it. Always come prepared to clean up after your dog.

check_circle

A reflective collar or light-up leash

If you visit near dusk, visibility gear helps you keep track of your dog and stay safe.

check_circle

High-value treats

Useful for practicing recall in a distracting environment and rewarding good social behavior.

check_circle

Your dog's favorite toy

A familiar toy can help shy dogs feel more comfortable and give them something to focus on.
