About the Park

Three designated off-leash zones, labeled west, central, and east, spread across Parley's Historic Nature Park at 2667 Heritage Way in southeast Salt Lake City. Dogs can reach Parley's Creek at marked water access points, which matters during hot Utah summers. The park is unfenced natural terrain with hiking and jogging trails, and parts of it are under active habitat restoration, so staying inside posted off-leash boundaries counts for a lot here. Waste bins are provided along the routes. Entry is free, with daily hours from early morning into the evening. It suits dogs that handle open space responsibly rather than fence-dependent wanderers.

infoWhat to Know Before You Go

Parley’s Historic Nature Park Off-Leash Area is an off-leash area without full fencing. Make sure your dog has solid recall before letting them loose, and keep an eye on them near any roads or boundaries.

Dogs can enjoy water features here — great for cooling off on hot days. Bring a towel for the car ride home, because your pup will probably get soaked.

Walking trails are available, so you and your dog can enjoy a walk beyond just the off-leash area. Trails are a great option for dogs who enjoy sniffing and exploring at their own pace.

Best of all, Parley’s Historic Nature Park Off-Leash Area is completely free to visit — no membership or daily fees required.

backpackWhat to Bring

check_circle

Fresh water and a bowl

Even parks with water fountains can have them out of service. Bring your own to be safe.

check_circle

Poop bags

Most parks provide them, but don't rely on it. Always come prepared to clean up after your dog.

check_circle

A towel

Your dog will likely get wet at the water features. Save your car seats with a quick dry-off.

check_circle

A folding chair

This park may have limited seating, so a portable chair can make longer visits more comfortable.

check_circle

A reflective collar or light-up leash

If you visit near dusk, visibility gear helps you keep track of your dog and stay safe.

check_circle

High-value treats

Useful for practicing recall in a distracting environment and rewarding good social behavior.

check_circle

Your dog's favorite toy

A familiar toy can help shy dogs feel more comfortable and give them something to focus on.
