Named for a police K-9 and marked with a memorial to him, Hondo Dog Park at 4499 NE Century Blvd in Hillsboro is fully fenced with separate small- and large-dog areas, on-site water, seating, waste bags, and an agility course. The mixed surface includes a seasonal grassy field and a gravel all-weather area, so there is usable footing even when the Willamette Valley rains set in. It is open daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM at no charge. The all-weather gravel section is a real plus in this wet-winter region, keeping the park usable when grass turns to mud. Double-gated security is not noted, so keep hold of your dog at the gate if recall is shaky.
